A Half-Irish Englishman long-term resident in Wales and writing mainly historical fiction and contemporary comedies with a political bent for the stage. ‘GAIA’, a short play about a refugee amid near-future climate collapse, was performed at The Scene New Writing Festival at Chiswick Playhouse in 2020 and later adapted into a podplay for the first season of the The Scene Podcast. ’The Liberties’, about a failed rebellion in nineteenth century Ireland, was longlisted for the ETPEP Award and shortlisted for The Other Room New Page program in 2020. In 2021 a filmed rehearsed reading of ‘Forestall’, a cerebral Cold War spy thriller set on a military psych wing, was made available for streaming online as part of The Other Room and TV’s Bad Wolf Emerging Writers Scheme. ‘Peter Byrne is Standing Here’, about an ejected Red Wall MP who resolves to hold on to his constituency office by force, won the 2022 Liverpool Hope Playwriting Prize and is currently in development with Liverpool Royal Court.
